The Chinese government has introduced a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering Hong Kong's position as an offshore yuan financing center. These measures include the establishment of a new funding facility for banks and companies, expanding access to mainland investors for foreign-currency bond investments, and enhancing market interconnectivity. The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) will provide a substantial liquidity facility to support trade-related activities. Boosting Trade and Investment with Liquidity Support

The introduction of a significant liquidity facility aims to enhance trade and investment activities between Hong Kong and the mainland. This initiative provides financial institutions with greater flexibility and confidence in conducting yuan-denominated transactions. By extending the settlement period and increasing the amount available, businesses can more comfortably use the yuan for trade settlements.
